POPE’S INTENTIONS FOR JUNE
National Leaders:
That national leaders may firmly commit themselves to ending the arms trade, which victimises so many innocent people.

GOOD WISHES FOR EXAMS
We extend good wishes to all our young students who begin the Junior & Senior Certificate examinations this week, and we keep them in our prayers.

PRAYER FOR EXAMS:
Lord, pour out your Spirit of Wisdom on these students:
help them to remain calm,
to attend carefully to the questions asked,
to think clearly, to remember accurately,
and to express themselves well.

Grant that they may reflect the best of the work they have done,
and the best of the teaching they have received.
Accept their best efforts in these examinations
and in the great test of life on earth.
May your love be upon them, O Lord,
as they place all their trust in you.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK (Fr. Brian D’Arcy)
If you’re going to have an exercise programme, start by exercising kindness. A word of encouragement during failure is worth more than a whole book of praise after a success.

FR NOLAN’S GOLDEN JUBILEE - APPRECIATION
On behalf of all parishioners we extend our congratulations and best wishes to Fr Nolan on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee.
The Parish Committee wish to express their sincere thanks to all those who made Fr Nolan’s Golden Jubilee celebrations such a wonderful occasion for our Parish on Friday 26th May. Thanks to Bishop Denis, all the clergy who attended, Fr Nolan’s family, invited guests and parishioners joined by people from far and wide who filled St Abban’s Church to capacity for Mass on Friday night.
Thanks to the following: both choirs for their beautiful hymns, the ushers, car-parking committee, those who prepared the church so beautifully and printing of the lovely booklet. Thanks also to the ladies and gentlemen who prepared St Abban’s Hall on Thursday night, Friday & Monday, and for the lovely floral arrangements, the hall looked splendid. A massive thank you for your overwhelming generosity for the milk, strawberries, the lovely confectionary and sandwiches donated, it exceeded all our expectations. Thanks to the ladies who worked so hard all night to make sure everyone was catered for and keeping the “tea pots” full at all times. Thanks also for the use of the cups, saucers etc, and last by no means least to St Abban’s Hall Committee for the use of the facility.
It probably brought back many memories to lots of people there. It was a unique and special occasion for our parish and we can be really proud of working together to achieve such a memorable night.
On behalf of every parishioner we pray God’s blessing on Fr Nolan to grant him many more years of health and happiness in his ministry.
