I.C.A. NEWS
Our Annual Summer Outing will take place on Wednesday July 19th. This year we will visit Castletown House in Celbridge, Co. Kildare.
Castletown House is a Palladian Country House built in 1722 for William Connolly, the speaker of the Irish House of Commons. It formed the centrepiece of a 550-acre estate. It was taken over by the O.P.W and is now open to the public nearly all year round. On visiting the House we will have an opportunity to see The Grace Kelly Museum, Barkley Toy Exhibition and Lady Kildare’s Room comprising of fine eighteenth century women’s court gowns. From there we will visit Newbridge Silverware and some retail therapy in The Whitewater Shopping Centre. At that stage we should have a good appetite built up to enjoy a meal on the way home in The Lord Bagneal Inn, Leighlinbridge, Carlow. If you would like to join us for a day out, please contact any I.C.A. member. The cost of the trip is €60 in total. A deposit of €15 is required on or before July 12th. Deposit is non-refundable.
