ST. VALENTINE’ S DAY – Wednesday 14th Feb
Valentine’s Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day or the feast of Saint Valentine, is an annual holiday celebrated on the 14th February. Originating as Western Christian feast day honouring one or more early saints named Valentine.

As with every Lent, Trócaire focuses on helping families and local communities. Our focus country this year is Sierra Leone, where we began working in the mid-1990’s. Kumba, who is the face of the Trócaire box this year, along with her family, is recovering from the terrifying mudslide, which devastated her local community last August in Freetown.
Trócaire is committed to helping Kumba, her family and the community in the aftermath of this humanitarian disaster.
Trócaire has been supporting communities like Kumba’s since our foundation in 1973, as a caring and compassionate organization inspired by Gospel values. For forty-five years, Trócaire has been the practical outreach of the Irish Church to those most in need in the poorer countries where we work.
Trócaire Boxes will be distributed after Masses this weekend.
LENT 2018
God created mankind to be one family, when any of our brothers and sisters suffer, we are all affected. Pope Francis.
Fear is the deafening sound of war
Love is the hand that quietens it.
Fear is the voice that’s never heard.
Love is breaking the silence.
Fear is the truth that’s locked in the dark.
Love is the courage that frees it.
Fear is the hunger that starves all hope.
Love is the food that feeds it.
As long as pain exists, as long as suffering is here,
Trócaire will stay.
Until Love conquers Fear.
