ST. PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE
This beautiful prayer for protection is also known as The Deer’s Cry. There is a story that when Patrick and his followers were ambushed, he spoke this prayer and instantly his party were concealed and all that the attackers saw was a group of deer in the mist.
Here is an extract from the prayer:
I arise today
Through the strength of Heaven:
Light of Sun,
Radiance of Moon,
Splendour of Fire,
Speed of Lightening,
Swiftness of Wind,
Depth of Sea,
Stability of Earth,
Firmness of Rock.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise.
Christ in the heart of every man that thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every one who speaks of me.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK by John Henry Newman
I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but God declared: “Go down again - I dwell among the people”.
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
Lord, help me to remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that You and I together can’t handle. Amen.

POPE’S WORLDWIDE NETWORK OF PRAYER FOR LENT (Sacred Heart Messenger Magazine)
(Universal): For doctors and their humanitarian collaborators in war zone, who risk their lives to save the lives of others.
Father, as I start this day, I recognise your special presence during Lent and Holy Week. May I receive your forgiveness and mercy as I celebrate the passion and death of the Lord, I offer you my every thought, word and deed for the many challenges that face humanity and the church. I remember in particular the prayer intentions of Pope Francis and pray for them this day. Our Father ...
As the sun sets at the close of the day, I consider the many moments of the day. I recognise the good and the bad; I offer everything to you and to your mercy, Lord. Help me to grow more and more in my capacity to love others as you love them. Hail Mary ...
