Adamstown Athletic Club had two fine performances in the indoor All Ireland last weekend. Patrice O’Gorman finished 4th in the U15 1000m Walk. This is an exceptional achievement for Patrice. Stephen Gorman followed soon after Patrice. Stephen qualified 4th from the heats of the U16 Boys 800m and turned out a fine performance to finish 6th in the final a few hours later. Both athletes were competing at the highest level in Ireland, in two difficult events. This is only the beginning for these two athletes. Well done. Thursday night was the first training session on the new all weather track and who better to test its speed than one of Ireland’s finest Brona Furlong. The excitement was hard to curtail, with our own athletes speeding up and down on it like Usain Bolt in the Olympic Finals. Thanks to Ger O’Neill who put in the hard work and expertise, we now have a quality 55m track. Well done everyone involved in this project.

STOP JUDGING BY THE WAY THINGS LOOK (John 7:24 NCV)
When country singer Lonzo Green’s nephew Jimmy asked him to tune a friend’s guitar, he agreed. The problem was, Jimmy’s friend was from the wrong side of the tracks and Jimmy’s parents wouldn’t allow him inside their house. So they met outside. As the kid approached, Green noticed his self – consciousness, demeanor and sidewise glances at the up market neighbourhood. Lonzo Green, who’d experienced poverty and discrimination in his own life, tuned the boy’s old guitar, played a few songs and taught him some chords. The young man thanked him and left with a warm memory he’d carry throughout the rest of his remarkable life. Eventually that boy crossed the tracks for good with his guitar, soft polite drawl and hesitant smile and was never unwelcome again. That’s because the boy who wasn’t allowed in the house was.....
VOCATIONS SUNDAY – 25TH APRIL 2010
SUNDAY 25TH APRIL IS THE OFFICAL DAY OF PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS IN THE CHURCH.
Pope Benedict in July 2009 at the beginning of the Year for Priests said: “What most stands out in the life of St John Vianney, the holy Cure of Ars, is his complete identification with his ministry. He used to say that a good pastor, a pastor after God’s heart, is the greatest treasure the good Lord can give a parish”.
I would ask you to remember our two students for the priesthood in your prayers – James Cullen in Maynooth and
Pat Duffy in the Beda, Rome. I would also ask you to remember in your prayers Deacon Luis de la Calle, IVE, who is due for ordination to the Priesthood this summer.
Let us pray the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into His harvest.
