ST BERNADETTE OF LOURDES
On July 7th 1866 Bernadette entered the sisters of Charity in Nevers. Bernadette suffered from illness a lot. For thirteen years she lived as a nun in Nevers. After a long illness she died on April 16th (Easter Wednesday) 1879. In the autumn of 1909 the work of the Episcopal Commission looking into Bernadette’s reputation with a view to Canonization was complete. The next step was the identification of her mortal remains. The body was exhumed for the first time on Wednesday September 22nd 1909 and it was found to be totally intact. It was re interred in a new coffin lined with zinc & padded with white silk.

For you will not leave my soul among the dead nor let your beloved known decay” (Psalm 15)

PEACE RULES
Examine your life for areas where you’re either controlling or being controlled.
Shun violence and anger – with self, spouse, children, parents or others.
Free yourself from abusive situations. If you need help admit it and get it.
Focus not on life’s disappointments, but on the blessings God’s given you.
Build healthy relationships with mutual respect and open communication.
Forgive yourself and others.
Celebrate the fact that God loves you and thank God for His loving presence.

A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
May he support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen, the evening falls and the busy world is hushed.
Then at last, may he grant us a holy rest, a safe lodging and peace at last. Amen.
