The dinner dance organised by the local GAA club and ladies football and camogie clubs which took place in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola recently was an outstanding success with well over 200 in attendance. County GAA secretary Margaret Doyle and her husband Jim were amongst the special guests and she presented the medals to the successful junior hurling teams and the u21 hurlers. Medals were also presented to the lady footballers and camogie players. Following the four course meal and the presentation of medals, dancing took place to the music of the band ‘Heartbeat’ which includes the famous Davitt brothers from Ferns.

While it was commonly perceived suicide involved the young with stress and peer pressure as key factors, the records were pointing to an older generation where loneliness and isolation were likely issues. Sincere sympathy is extended to Ned Finn, Kellystown, Adamstown on the death of his wife Margaret who died on Saturday 60th of January in St James Hospital. Mass was celebrated in St Abbans Church, Adamstown on 1st of February at 12.00 am with burial afterwards in adjourning cemetery.
