The weekly “30” Card Game continues in the Community Centre on Friday April 2nd @ 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. There is €220 in prize money on offer each night. Catering April 2nd will be: Kathleen Barden, Maura Barden & Siobhan Hynes. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

ADAMSTOWN CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS
Come along to support the girls on Easter Saturday evening 3rd April as they play the 2009 Junior B league final against Clongeen in Adamstown at 6pm. Our Junior B team are also playing this Sunday 28th March in Adamstown at 3:30pm against Cushinstown. Our minor team will play their first match of the season against St. James on Tuesday 30th in Adamstown at 6pm. Your support would be much appreciated.
A date for your diary – in conjunction with the ladies football club and the ladies soccer club we are having a presentation night in the Stanville Lodge on Friday night 21st May. Tickets will go on sale soon.
OUTING TO CROKE PARK
On Monday next 29th March the tour to “Croke Park” will leave the village @ 9am. The bus will leave from the community centre. All those who have not yet paid their “fare” are asked to do so by Sunday.

Congratulations and well done to Dylan Carthy-Walsh who was captain of the Good Counsel College juvenile football team that recently won the Leinster schools “A” title at Portlaoise, and also to the other local lads on the panel including James Furlong, Laurence and Patrick Roche.
HEALTH INFORMATION EVENING FOR WOMEN
Betty Roberts, Nutritional Therapist will present a Health Information Evening for women on Wednesday April 14th in Raheen Community Centre from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. This promises to be a very informative talk, where information will be given on what foods really are nutritious, what are the best foods to boost energy, and quick and easy meal suggestions. A BIT OF HISTORY
The First World War ended at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month 1918. The Armistice Truce was signed in a railway coach which is now housed in the building which stands on the actual spot in Compiegne, France where the signing took place.
A NEW PUMP FOR ADAMSTOWN – AUGUST 10TH 1892
Mr. Samuel Browne, Richardstown, Kilmore, tendered for sinking a pump in Adamstown the first 25 feet (if clay) 16s per foot; for sinking after 25 feet (if clay) £1 per foot; for sinking first 25 feet of stone quarry, £1 per foot; for sinking after 25 feet at £1 7s 6d per foot. The above includes lining the well, if required, and erecting a larch pump of the best description – all found. I will bind myself with security for the due fulfillment of contract to the amount of £15. My sureties are James Howlin and Stephen Whelan, both of Grange, Kilmore for the same amount.
Mr. James Doyle, Raheen proposed to do the work as follows – to sinking and lining the pump opposite the schoolhouse gate of Adamstown at 15s per foot for the first 25feet; for the next five feet 25s per foot; for each additional foot, £2 per foot; good wall and suitable pump at 5s per foot. Browne’s tender was accepted.
Summer time will commence on Sunday March 28th. Mass in Adamstown will be on Saturday nights @ 8pm and on Sunday @ 10:30am.
Reminding the Parish Committee that the tickets for the Lourdes draw must be returned on Good Friday @ 8pm in the community centre for the draw on Easter Sunday.
STREET CHILDREN OF BUCHAREST APPEAL.
On Easter Sunday your support will be much appreciated by donating any of the following items – cereals, pasta, rice, tin peas and beans, spaghetti, mayonnaise, soup, tin rice, sugar, jam, ketchup, tin tomatoes, biscuits, sweets, coffee, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, cotton wool etc.
If you have Sky you can access all the Holy Week Ceremonies on channel 589. There are many interesting programmes to see. Mass each day, Rosary and Divine Mercy – particularly suitable for those people confined to home.
Our sympathy is extended to Kathleen & Pat Lawlor and family, Knockreigh, Adamstown on the death of Kathleen’s brother Joe Morris, White Rock View, Wexford. His funeral Mass took place on Tuesday 23rd March in Clonard Church with burial afterwards in Crosstown Cemetery.
Our sympathy also to James & Marie Buckley and family, Raheenaclonagh, Adamstown on the sudden death of James’s cousin Conor Buckley, Davidstown / Ballyhyland, Caim. His funeral Mass took place on Thursday 25th March in Caim Church with burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.
