ADAMSTOWN ATHLETIC CLUB NEWS
Well done to Shannon Wall, Patrice O Gorman, Joe Mooney, Liam Stafford and Stephen Gorman on taking part in the community games national finals in Athlone recently. New members are always welcome, contact Ellen on 087 2375793.
The Adamstown Open Cross Country held on Sunday 13th September turned out some fine performances from promising young athletes. Although clubs found it hard to field teams with so many people beach bound in September! the completion and competitiveness of the athletes was by no means diminished. Adamstown A.C. would like to thank their sponsors Hughie Doyle Furniture-Wexford & Gorey, Glanbia-Foulksmills, My Sport-Enniscorthy for their generous sponsorship. Gavin and Stuart Rothwell for the use of their land, which was agreed by those who attended was a great cross country course, tough when it counted, to Fr Nolan for the use of his facilities and presenting the prizes and the surrounding athletic clubs for their support. The sun shone brightly and it was a most enjoyable day for athletes and spectators.
PLEASE NOTE: Adamstown Athletic Club is holding the Leinster Cross Country Even Age Championships on Sunday 25th October 2009 on the land kindly provided by Stewart and Gavin Rothwell in Adamstown village. It is specially a great honour for the club to host Leinster Championships as this is where all the great athletes are found. This year will be no exception as Dublin is hosting the European Cross Country in December. We will be expecting the cream of Leinster to take part in the championships as athletes will be aiming to impress and get selected to represent Ireland at the European Championships.
We will need a lot of HELP on this day. The club members on their own will not be able to cope with this event. If any club, organization or individuals can help out with car parking, track stewarding or teas, we would be grateful of your help. All donations of sandwiches, cakes, buns etc will be greatly accepted if you can help or donate please let Ellen Furlong know on 087 2375793.

COISTE na N’OG

The minors are also through to County finals in both hurling and football. The hurling was played in Cloughbawn on Saturday 19th. Results next week.
The football final is due to take place next weekend. No time or venue fixed yet.
BEST OF LUCK TO ALL IN SEMI-FINALS AND FINALS.

DEDICATION OF ST ABBANS CHURCH Sunday September 15th 1842?
The famous Fr Theobald Mathew preached the sermon at the dedication of St Abban’s. The Bishop James Keating officiated. The proceeds of the collection taken up at the ceremony went towards the liquidation of the debts contracted on the chapel. After the sermon, Fr Mathew administered the Pledge. September 15th is the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Sept 14th is the Feast of the Hollycross. It is an appropriate date to dedicate the new church beside St Abbans Cross one of the historical sites of Christianity in Co Wexford.

WELCOME HOME SR HELEN DELANEY
We hope that Sr. Helen will have a well earned holiday and the continued support of her native parish in her ministry to the poorest of the poor.

That mercy I to others show, that mercy show to me.
