The weekly “30” Card Game continues in the Community Centre on Friday March 12th @ 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. There is €220 in prize money on offer each night. Catering Friday March 12th will be: Marie Mooney, Angela Furlong and Lou Furlong – Knockreigh. Catering Friday 19th March will be: Marian Kelly, Catherine L Kelly, Catherine J Kelly and Mary Fortune. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

There was no Jackpot winner at the last Lotto draw. The winning numbers were 10, 18, 22 & 26. Two matched three numbers – Ger O’Neill, Glenour and Julia Walsh c/o A & M Taghmon. Next draw will take place Monday night 15th March in Cullen’s Lounge. All proceeds going to Adamstown F.C, GAA and Parish Committee.

A meeting of Adamstown ICA will be held on Wednesday 10th March @ 8pm. Competition for the best loaf of bread.

The money raised at the ploughing held in Kellystown will be presented to the charities in Brad Og’s on Thursday night 11th March @ 9pm. All are welcome to come along.

A limited number of places still remain to be filled on the coach from Raheen to Killarney for the Active Retirement break which lasts from Monday 15th March until Friday 19th March. The trip will include four nights B&B, three dinners and a number of daily bus trips to view the surroundings. The total cost is €260 per person sharing.

Following the recent success of the Senior Citizens protest march across Dublin in 2009, every Monday from now until April 26th will be “Senior Citizens Day”. This means that every Monday senior citizens can spend the day at the GAA Museum and take a guided tour of “Croke Park Stadium” for only €5 (half price). There will also be a discount of 10% in the museum café. Arrangements have been made to travel by bus to Croke Park with “Joe O’Brien Tours” on Monday 29th March leaving Adamstown @ 9am as the first tour of the museum is arranged for 1:30pm. Well done to Triona Mooney who was 2nd in the U12 girls Cross Country County Final. Triona will now be representing Wexford at the All Ireland Final in Athlone in May. Athletes from the Adamstown Athletic Club had an exceptional weekend at the Leinster Indoor Championships held in Nenagh. Saturday we had two competitors U13 boys Shot Putt – JP Furlong finished 5th and also threw a personal best. U15 boys Shot Putt – Eoin Furlong a newcomer to the event finished 4th. Sunday saw a great start to the day with Patrice O Gorman winning a silver medal in the U15 Girls Walk guaranteeing her place in the All Irelands. In U14 Boys Walk – Joe Mooney battled it out and eventually finished 4th. In the Boys U14 800m Sean Barden lead the field for most of the race, to be out sprinted into 7th position in his heats. U15 Girls 800m Claire Stephenson had the fastest heat and finished in 8th position. U16 Boys 800m Stephen Gorman finished 3rd and collecting himself a bronze medal, also qualifying for the All Ireland. U12 Girls 60m Shannon Wall won her heats impressively and narrow;y missed a podium position by finishing 4th in the Final. In the boys U12 Shot Putt Jack Power finished 4th and Conor O Gorman finished 6th, with only centimetres depriving them from medals. The club is holding its Annual Sponsored Run/Jog/Walk on Sunday 28th March @ 11:30am. All are welcome to come along and join in the 2 mile from Templenacrow to the Grotto in the Ballagh and back.

The local senior football team had a successful opening outing to the new season when they defeated St James on a final score of 3-10 to 1-7 at Newbawn on Saturday afternoon in the quarter final of the Tommy Murphy cup New Ross district competition, having led 2-5 to 0-2 at half time. They are now in the semi-final of this competition along with Clongeen, Fethard and Bannow/Ballymitty. The team lined out as follows – Alan Bradley, David Lawlor, M J Cooper, Colm Boland, James Breen 1-0, P J Carroll 0-1, Lorcan French, Thomas Furlong, David Bradley 0-1, Barry Power 0-1, P J Thorpe 0-4, David Mc Evoy 1-1, Ian Stafford 0-1, John Murphy, Shane Bradley 0-1, Sub played – Stephen Power 1-0, Ian Bradley, John Whelan, Michael Furlong & Patrick Delaney. Well done boys.

Sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of the late Michael (Mick) Dunne, Furlongstown, Taghmon. His remains were interred in St Fintans Cemetery, Taghmon on Tuesday March 2nd after 12 o’clock Funeral Mass in St. Fintans Church.
