Adamstown Parish Committee met on Friday 1st of October, the Chairperson Ned Furlong welcomed everyone and the Minutes of the last meeting were read.  All members were glad to hear that the roof of St Abban’s Oratory was finally re-roofed and the necessary repair work done was a cost of €3,466.00.  This roof has been a very bad state for a long time, it is now planned to have the interior of the oratory re-painted in the near future.  A short discussion took place about catering for the cards on Friday nights, some members felt that it should be possible to have more young people come on board and in doing so it would extend the time to every six months or even once every twelve months for ladies catering.
They also felt that those very willing parishioners who have been more than generous with their time and service to the catering rota over the past fifteen years or so could then take a well earned break.  The monies raised from the Friday night Card games have made a huge contribution to Parish funds and in fact the money used to cover the cost of the roofing work on the small Chapel came for this fund.  Two representatives from the Parish Committee were nominated as new Trustees for the Community Centre and all members wished the Centre every success going forward.
