MORE EVIDENCE SHROUD OF TURIN DATES BACK TO JESUS’ TIME.

Using a new X-ray technique, Italian researchers proved the Shroud of Turin dates from the time of Christ. Initially, it was believed the burial garment, which has the imprint of a man killed by crucifixion, was only 700 years old, but this new study showed it is actually dated from 2,000 years ago.

With a method called wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS), scientists at the Institute of Crystallography at the National Research Council were able to age a sample of flax cellulose, which are long chains of sugar molecules that slowly deteriorates over time based on the condition it was kept. The study published in the journal Heritage said “the data profiles were fully compatible with analogous measurements obtained on a linen sample whose dating, according to historical records, is 55-74 AD, found in Masada, Israel.

She told the Catholic Standard: “My Catholic faith is very important to me. It always has been and always will be. It is part of who I am and I feel comfortable practising my faith.”

THE WISDOM OF A CHILD

An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him: “How do you expect to get into heaven”. The boy thought it over and said: “Well, I’ll run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter days: “For Heaven’s sake, Dylan, come in or stay out!”

A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK –  For Creation

Glance at the sun. See the moon and stars.

Gaze at the beauty of Earth’s greenings.

Now think what delight God gives to humankind.

But we are to work with it.

For without it we cannot survive.

(Meditation from Hildegard of Bingen)

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK – Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father, as I begin this day, I look to you for guidance. I offer you the joys and sorrows, laughter and tears of this day and unite myself to the intention of Pope Francis for this month.  Amen.
